Self-portrait


This famous sanguine drawing, probably made between 1512 and 1515, is considered Leonardo’s most authentic portrait. The work, kept in the Royal Library in Turin, depicts an elderly man with a long beard and intense gaze. This face, imbued with expression and depth, has become a symbol of the Renaissance genius, evoking the wisdom and mystery of his personality.
